Achraf Hakimi has been crowned the 2025 African Men’s Player of the Year, capping off a landmark season for both Morocco and Paris Saint-Germain. The PSG star beat out strong contenders in Nigeria’s Victor Osimhen and Egypt’s Mohamed Salah to take home the continent’s top individual honor.

The 2024–25 campaign was nothing short of exceptional for Hakimi. Operating as one of the world’s most dynamic wing-backs, he produced 11 goals and 16 assists numbers rare for a defender while playing a pivotal role in PSG’s Ligue 1, Coupe de France, UEFA Champions League, and UEFA Super Cup triumphs. Across more than 3,400 minutes of football, he contributed to around 10 clean sheets and earned spots in both the Ligue 1 and Champions League Teams of the Season.

Hakimi has come close to the CAF award before, including a runner-up finish in 2024, but this year marked a historic breakthrough. With the 2025 win, he becomes the first defender in more than half a century to lift the African Player of the Year trophy.

A monumental achievement for a player redefining his position — congratulations to Achraf Hakimi.
